http://www.ipsf.com We provide tips on using and maintaining your DIY Nano Lagoon light hood (see also part a).

1) Clean the acrylic lens twice a week with a wet terry cloth to remove salt spray.

2) Wipe the edges of the hood to prevent salt creep.

3) Prop open the top access door to vent off heat if necessary.

4) Use a cheap timer on a 12/12 on/off cycle to reduce daily wear and tear on the lamp switch.

5) Remove the acrylic hood lens and replace the power compact bulbs once a year. Reseal the edges of the lens with aquarium silicon to keep out seawater.

6) Consider making a backup light hood as insurance against malfunction. Consider keeping a spare Aquatech 5-15 Power Filter on hand for the same reason. [This general precaution applies to mission-critical hardware components on all reef tank systems!]

Please use only captive-bred organisms in your reef aquarium.
