The iliopsoas (psoas) is a deep abdominal muscle and the only muscle attaching the spine to the legs and is referred to as a hip flexor. When tight it can cause widespread imbalances and pain. We rely on it often as it stabilizes the pelvis and is responsible for bringing our leg forward while walking.
There are several stretches you can do but I also like laying on my foam roller for an assisted stretch. I have also used a medicine ball, weighted Pilates ball or softball as well.
